Welcome to Gryphon Lair Studios! We are a quaint indie digital art / visualization lab.

We take great joy in creating a range of collectible 3d assets and other various in-game content for virtual realms.

Currently we take joy in projects of the medieval history / fantasy genre, as well as gaming and web development.

about the works

Culture
Our new Medieval history-inspired “Three Estates” game system features an action/strategy simulator examining medieval technology, resource, and conflict.

Skill Based
Game play provides challenges to hand-eye coordination, timing, technique, and resource management.

Realism
Masterful hand-keyed animation techniques provide realism to character and prop movement. Avatars and props move as they would in relation to real world properties of matter and energy.

Team Oriented
Game play features a unique team-based combat system utilizing class support and tactical strategy components into melee gaming.

Principles
In principle, we continually research the wide array of medieval histories, technologies, and other elements that affected cultures for authenticity.

Balance
We strive for the perfect balance between art(aesthetics) and science(diversity and fairness of capabilities, fast and efficient sim performance). From start to finish, we are committed to provide “high-end quality” to our users.

History-Inspired
We research and design ‘history-inspired’ avatar apparel and gear with an authentic, and highly detailed, medieval aesthetic.

Fantasy-Inspired
We also design mythology / fiction literature-inspired avatar apparel and gear with an imaginative, and creatively stylized, medieval-fantasy aesthetic.

Painting
Our 2d texture work places emphasis on hand-painting and procedural texturing methods for originality in color design and visual style.

Sculpture
Our 3d sculptural process follows a blueprinting method of concept design, 2d sketch, onto polygonal(mesh), prim, or sculpty(nurbs) modeling techniques.

Design
We explore archetypical forms, emphasize realism in shape / scale, stylize for uniqueness, and strive for low-polygon count efficiency.

History-Inspired
In between the cross gables, half-timbering, curtain walls, merlons, quions, anvils, to wrought iron lanterns, we value authenticity and strive to capture the essence of medieval, Tudor, to Victorian architectural themes.

Painting
Our 2d paint work features a range of hand-painted to procedural textures accentuating a life-like yet stylized aesthetic feel.

Sculpture
Be it prim, sculpt, or mesh modeling techniques, we embrace all challenges of real-time 3d arts. We create for both the advancement of virtual environmental sculpture / art, and for works that our patrons may value and enjoy.
